Canada To Get TV Downloads

By Sherri

Taking a cue from iTunes' success, MoboVivo is moving toward offering Canadians the chance to download their favorite TV shows. The company intends to provide legal (the keyword being legal) downloads for such platforms as iPods, mobile phones, PDAs and even the Sony PSP.
This is good news for television fans not only in Canada, but elsewhere as well. The more the download craze catches on, the better it will be for viewers.
Until now, there has been no place for Canadians to buy downloadable television programs," said Trevor Doerksen, CEO of MoboVivo. "With over 100,000 television episodes being downloaded daily from the iTunes Video Store in the U.S., MoboVivo presents a huge opportunity for Canadian and international content providers to offer downloable versions of their TV shows."
Two of Canada's largest national television broadcasters—including CHUM Television, which is providing educational content from its ACCESS television station—along with several TV producers, have already taken advantage of the service.
