MoboVivo CEO Says Future Is Bright

By Sherri

With major networks like ABC, NBC, CNN and more all rolling out some serious Internet plans, it looks like the trend toward online viewing will continue to flourish. But what direction it will take in the next five years or so is anyone's guess.
This, according to MoboVivo CEO Trevor Doerksen, is one of the reasons the industry is so exciting right now. Doerksen's company recently celebrated its soft launch without fanfare, preferring to continue to build on its offerings and technology before making a major marketing push. The idea is to position itself to be the best online provider it can be. Using specialized technology, called Rapid Repurposing Technology, Canada's MoboVivo wants to ensure it can reach viewers through multiple platforms now and into the future.
What's the marketplace going to be in the next five years? That's a tough one," Doerksen said during an interview with TeevBlogger. "MoboVivo is part of a very consumer-driven industry that's (going) to be different from what we see today."
Doerksen said the industry will revolve around what viewers want, and at this point, no one is really sure, but they're willing to experiment, as evidenced by the mass movements of networks toward broadband offerings.
He anticipates longer content offerings, beyond some of the "media snacks" being offered in bulk today will become mainstays as will ads most likely. "People want relationships," he said. "Those relationships take time to develop." Although people, including Doerksen, watch and enjoy the shorter programs, he doesn't see them defining the industry in the future.
As for MoboVivo, only time will tell. "We could be a huge phenomenon, or this niche that's been beaten back by the big boys." He's pushing for the phenomenon.
