CinemaNow To Offer Fox TV and Movies

By Stacy

CinemaNow has announced that it will carry movies and, the real interesting news, television episodes from Fox. CinemaNow has recently signed deals with Disney also. Now this isn’t an exclusive deal. Movielink sells Fox movie and iTunes sells Fox television shows.
Beginning June 13th select movies will be available in a download to own format. It is unclear if these will be download to DVD or if they will have DVD features. Television shows will be offered starting July 1st. The prices are about average for the market around $1.99 TV and $10 to $20 for movies, this is for CinemaNow members which charges a subscription fee. Movies will also be available on CinemaNow on the same day as their DVD release starting with The Hills Have Eyes on June 20th.
Fox has a huge catalogue of movies that will be available on CinemaNow. The television shows being offered though include 24 and Firefly which are the same shows offered on iTunes. This is a pretty good deal for Fox because it has even more outlet for its shows but what is the gain for CinemaNow? A recent article on Forbes.com discusses the deal;
CinemaNow President Bruce Eisen said the deal will comprise Fox outlets FX, FUEL TV, SPEED, Fox Broadcasting and Twentieth Century Fox. "We're focused on TV," he said, "and the Fox deal gives us all types of content from across the board."Related:
The agreement is not exclusive to CinemaNow, though, since Movielink also sells movies from Twentieth Century Fox on a download-to-own basis. But Movielink doesn't sell Fox TV shows just yet.In April, CinemaNow signed download-to-own deals with Sony , MGM and Lions Gate Entertainment.
Eisen sees the recent Disney and Fox partnerships as a continuing trend. "Certainly, we'll get all the major studios," he said.
One that's noticeably missing, though, is Viacom's Paramount. But Eisen said that one is in the works. "It's moving along in the appropriate direction," he said. "It wouldn't surprise me if the next time we talk, it's about Paramount.
