Motherload Adds More Original Series

By Stacy

Online only shows are becoming more and more popular as more outlets are available, like CBS’s Innertube. Other uses of the online platform that we’ve mentioned here before are the specialty market and censorship. Comedy Central’s Motherload broadband video site has plans to offer even more original content. Comedy Central’s Motherload is a very popular site that offers clips of shows, stand up and some original series.
One of the more controversial series that is in the works is the animated series Baxter & McGuire created by Michael J. Weithorn, executive producer of CBS's The King of Queens. Baxter & McGuire is about talking testicles. Yes, you read that correctly. This and the other series scheduled to be featured on Motherload were discussed on TV.com News.
Among the other projects coming to MotherLoad are the live-action series Honest, in which everyone says exactly what they're thinking, and Good God, a live-action workplace ensemble where heaven is run like a corporation. Other original MotherLoad series in the works and premiering throughout the year include the 10-episode Balloonheads, which features a cast of puppet characters with balloons for heads, and the animated Time Travelers, currently in development.
One Motherload show is another example of how the web-only show can be best used. Live at Gotham, a popular and odd stand up show, is making the transition from Motherload to Comedy Central’s regular cable channel. The use of the web to try out a show may become the popular low-risk way for content producers to test the market.
