Vongo Starts Full Commercial Service

By Stacy

Vongo, which has been around for a little while in its beta form, is ready to start what owner Starz Entertainment calls Gold service. There have been some changes made in content, looks and speed. While pricing and service remain the same. The changes are mainly based on consumer responses and technical tweaking.
First, a quick rundown of what Vongo does before the changes that have been made to the service. Vongo is a video download subscription service that charges a fee of $9.99 per month for unlimited downloads. The downloads can be stored for 24 hours and transferred to up to three Windows based devices. The changes to the service will most likely give Vongo a fighting chance in this new and competitive market.
An article on Digital Webcast describes the changes that Vongo has made and its future goals. They have increased their catalogue from around 1,000 movies and television to 1,600 by adding a large selection of older television shows, sports and live music concerts. They have raised the bitrate to 1.3 Mbps to accommodate the streaming Starz Channel that is part of its regular service and has proved to be more popular than expected. Several improvements have also been made to the navigation of the site. For those of us who are not users of Vongo, they do offer a pay per view service for $3.99 per download that can be accessed by non-subscribers.
