TeevBlogger Online Video Search

By Rob
Last month Google released Google Co-op Custom Search, an extension of their existing service which lets anyone build a personalized search engine on top of Google's technology.Google's wider aim with the service is to "deploy the expertise and knowledge of our end users" to improve their search offerings and expand into "social search".
But the fun part of it is, it's now easy for people create their own search engine and fill it with the sites and pages they care about, brand it however they wish and maybe even make a little cash while doing so.
I've been testing the service out and have created the TeevBlogger Online Video Search engine that will simultaneously search over different video sites, including YouTube, Google Video, Daily Motion, AOL's various video sites, ABC's broadband test site, CBS innertube, Amazon Unbox and many more.
I think it works pretty well - though one thing I've noticed is YouTube and Google Video seem to dominate the results by default. I'm guessing it's because those sites have so many pages indexed by Google they sometimes drown out the smaller sites I've included like Grouper.com.
One nifty feature that lets you combat this is the Refinement links at the top of each results page. Clicking these gives you results from only those sites. For example doing a search for Seinfeld, then clicking the Grouper refine link will find all of the Seinfeld videos on Grouper.
Check out the search engine here, or learn more about creating your own here.
