Irish News Station Goes Live

By Sherri
The Belfast-based Irish News has gone live with its own Internet TV station, dubbed intv. The station went live earlier this week and includes a variety of video news spots that range in scope from features and sports to business, religion and more.
As it’s being pointed out in the Press Gazette, the newspaper is the first in Ireland to create its own dedicated Internet station. The move will allow the paper to capture an audience outside its traditional print and regular online readers and likely will provide for a more holistic approach to covering the news.
Multimedia presentations of news stories are a major trend as newspapers all over America scramble to create an online presence that takes in both print and video. The crossover possibility for journalists to cover in both print and video is rather exciting. The fact is the trend better serves the public and gives journalists a new way to ensure the stories they tell reach the public.
