‘Ugly Betty’ Is Golden Globe Darling

By Sherri
The 64th annual Golden Globes have come and gone with the winners announced and awards taken home. Shows that are popular on the networks and also online had a strong showing in the nominations, but they fell down hard in the winning category, but overall there’s no denying that “Ugly Betty” was the darling of the night. The biggest win for online crossover shows came from Betty. The series about an unattractive woman working in a models’ world won in the Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy category. America Ferrera, the show’s lead actress, also won honors in the best actress category.
The only other big win for online favorites was in the best television series – drama category where Grey’s Anatomy took home the win. The ABC vehicle is a medical show with a serious bite that’s a popular download on iTunes. It was up against some stiff competition, including “24,” “Heroes” and “Lost.”
Alec Baldwin of “30 Rock” also took home honors as best actor in a musical or comedy for the NBC hit show.
The real shocker to me was the snubbing of “24.” No best actor award for Kiefer and no best show award for the Fox favorite. Considering the drooling fans that eagerly awaited the season six debut, this one has me blinking a bit. Still, there’s no denying “Grey’s Anatomy” is a force to be reckoned with.
