Xbox LiveThe rumor mill surrounding the Xbox 360 is churning full time this week it seems.

First there were reports about a possible new version of the 360 getting ready to come out that will offer greater storage capacity and full HDMI capability. Now, it appears as if Microsoft is more than just toying with the idea of making the Xbox 360 a full IPTV receiver.

If this is the case, the new Internet Protocol Television set up could dovetail nicely with the download service now available on Xbox Live. IPTV would enable live and on-demand video to be streamed through the Xbox 360 directly onto television sets using an Internet connection.

IPTV at this point is nothing more than a rumor, but it’s one to watch. How exactly it would work is murky, but the fact is it is a logical step in the race to make next-gen mean more than fancy video games.
